This website collects data about you when you register as a user. This data is not distributed or sold to any third parties.
Your name will be shown next to any articles you publish, and while your email will not be visible on the site, if people click your name, it will create an email to you - i.e. your email is visible in the html source as a mailto: link.
Cookies are used for running sessions and for remembering you if you don't want to have to log in next time you visit. Cookies places a small file on your computer (this one will last for a month). Many websites place cookies on your computer and they are not regarded as a major security threat.
Javascript is required for the backend of this site - so if you want to be able to contribute to the website you must have javascript enabled. Similarly some pictures link to slideshows and they require javascript to function.
The website works best on a large screen - 1280x1024 is great - it is also designed to work well at 1024x768, although you may need to browse with a full screen (try 'F11') to make the most of the images in slideshows. If there are people who use this website with a smaller screen, my apologies. If there are many of you I will work hard to get a version that looks good at 800x600.
The website is thoroughly tested on Internet Explorer 7. It has also been reasonably well gone through with I.E. 6 and Firefox. If you're running an earlier version of Internet Explorer, it's now time to think about upgrading. I haven't access to a mac, so if you have success with Safari (or issues) I'd be pleased to hear.
